Let me share you a perfect place to visit after the quarantine. Have you heard the flower festival? Not in Baguio but in Candelaria, Quezon. Girasoles Farm is located in Barangay Masin Sur and it is one of the tourist attractions here. It was named “Girasoles”, which means “sunflowers” in English, because it is a sunflower farm that is planted with thousands of sunflowers blooming all year round.

At Girasoles, they have different varieties of sunflower that bloom all year-round, together with other annual flowering plants, high-value crops, and even different varieties of watermelons. Visitors and tourist can even learn how to cultivate sunflowers because the owners are sharing their knowledge about farming. This makes Girasoles Farm not only a tourist destination, but also an outdoor farm school where enthusiasts can learn something from their visit.
Girasoles Farm has already attracted thousands of visitors coming not only from the surrounding areas but as well as from other municipalities in the region, including visitors from Metro Manila.


The farm is very accessible due to the major highways that pass throughout Candelaria town proper. There is the Candelaria Bypass Road, which serves as an alternative road for commuters coming from Manila who are on their way to Batangas or Bicol region. Commuters can also easily reach Girasoles Farm through the provincial buses via Metro Manila going to Lucena City and drop off at the town’s designated bus stops where you can take a tricycle going to Barangay Masin Sur where the sunflower farm is located. Every year, Alitagtag municipality celebrates the Filipino tradition of Tapusan. And this tradition increasingly flourishing and becomes more vibrant through the years. The Tapusan is held every last day of May. This activity include flower arrangement at church, procession of floats containing floral arrangements, replicas of beautiful landscapes in the Philippines, images and statue of the Virgin Mary and sagala’s of citizens of Alitagtag. In Alitagtag, there is only one road in town, running east to west. Spectators usually go to the middle of the town to catch a glimpse of all eight floats, one for each village or “buklod”. Everybody in the parade walks slowly as they say the rosary. The band will be playing behind the float after each decade of the rosary. It is a very moving and festive experience. Being a legitimate  Tanaueño , I observed a lot of changes from our town.  Victory Mall is one of the Big Project of our Late Tanauan City Mayor Thony Halili .
