Bauan, officially the Municipality of Bauan is a municipality in the province of Batangas in the Calabarzon (Region IV-A) of the Philippines. The population was 91,297 at the 2015 census. In the 2016 electoral roll, it had 49,813 registered voters. The mission of Bauan was founded as a visita of Taal in 1590. It was administered by the Augustinians from 1596 and onwards when the first church was built at the slope of Mount Maculot along the southern shores of the Taal Lake until the end of the 19th century.

Bauan’s Main Catholic Church 



The Immaculate Conception Parish (Bauan) is a Neo-classical church located Bauan, Batangas in the Philippines. The church is the third and final relocation site of Bauan after its transfer from the shores of Bombon Lake (Taal Lake), to Durugto, to Lonal, and finally to its present site near the shores of Batangas Bay. The church is also one of the parishes administered by Fr. Manuel Blanco, who perfected the art of dyeing by means of plants in Bauan.

Kakabit na ng salitang Batangueño ang salitang BARAKO. Ang kahulugan nito sa mga taga-Batangas ay matapang pero hindi dahil matatapang o siga ang mga Batagueño kaya naikakabit sila sa turang salita. Ito ay dahil sa isang produktong kilala halos sa buong Pilipinas. Sino ang hindi nakakikilala sa kapeng barako? KAROSA

Every year, Alitagtag municipality celebrates the Filipino tradition of Tapusan. And this tradition increasingly flourishing and becomes more vibrant through the years. The Tapusan is held every last day of May. This activity include flower arrangement at church, procession of floats containing floral arrangements, replicas of beautiful landscapes in the Philippines, images and statue of the Virgin Mary and sagala’s of citizens of Alitagtag. In Alitagtag, there is only one road in town, running east to west. Spectators usually go to the middle of the town to catch a glimpse of all eight floats, one for each village or “buklod”. Everybody in the parade walks slowly as they say the rosary. The band will be playing behind the float after each decade of the rosary. It is a very moving and festive experience.
